calm: a guided journal journey

CALM.  It can feel so elusive in our hectic, hurried world, and yet calm may be much closer than you think.  Once you know where to look for it, you'll find calm around every corner, ready to hold you strong and steady, bringing you clarity and peace, soothing your worries and releasing your fears.

If you're ready to whole-heartedly welcome calm into your life, I've created an experience to help you do just that.  Using my knowledge as a therapist and avid journaler, I'll take you by the hand and gently guide you as you explore calm and all it has to offer you.  

During your 30 day journey, you'll receive encouraging messages each day, filled with simple yet powerful concepts and meaningful journal prompts that will change and improve your relationship with calm.  As  you write and reflect, you'll chart your own unique path toward greater calm in the ways that work best for you. 

Here's a roadmap of the six themes we'll visit along the way:  
  • In The Purpose of Calm, we’ll reflect on why we want calm in our lives and envision the possibilities it can bring to us so that we can start our journey with intention and optimism. 
  • In Describing Calm, we’ll seek to observe and capture the complete, textured, vivid essence of calm so that we can be sure to know calm when we see it.
  • In Mapping Calm, we’ll notice where calm can already be found in our lives so that we can expand these pathways to discover even more calm. 
  • In My Present Relationship to Calm, we’ll explore the patterns, preferences, and processes that shape our relationship to calm so that we can bring greater self-awareness and intention to this relationship.
  • In My Past Relationship to Calm, we’ll travel back in time to understand the ways your past experiences shape how you relate to calm today so that you can find greater calm in the present.
  • In My Future Relationship to Calm we’ll take everything we’ve discovered about calm and carrying it forward with us into a future where we have an even better relationship with calm.

​It's going to be a grand adventure--but it's also going to be easy and accessible.  Everything you need for your trip will arrive straight to your email inbox, making commitment and consistency right within your reach.

Hi there!  I'm Laurie, a private practice therapist and avid journaler who brings my professional and personal experiences together to create journal resources + experiences that help you have a better relationship with yourself.  

Helping clients find greater calm and peace in their lives has been a cornerstone of my work as a therapist since I began my career.  It's been a joy to take what I know and adapt it into this unique journal opportunity for you.  Happy journaling!

frequently asked questions

Do I need to have any journaling experience to take this journal journey?
Definitely not!  It's accessible for new and beginning journalers while still being a deep enough dive for experienced journalers.  If you feel like you want a little more guidance on journaling, my Start Journaling Mini-Course can help!  

How much time will I need to invest?
Each message will take about 2 minutes to read.  How long it takes you to respond to the journal prompt will vary from person to person and entry to entry, but about 10 minutes should be enough for you to get a lot out of your writing experience.  You can always take more time if you have it and feel inspired to write in greater detail, but keep your expectations of yourself gentle enough that you'll be able to meet them with relative ease.

If I purchase my journal journey today, do my 30 days start right away? 
Nope.  After you purchase, you'll receive a welcome email with tips on how to prepare.  Once you're ready to begin, there's an "Onward!" button in that same welcome email that you click to get started.  Your 30 days of journal journey messages begin at that time and will arrive every 24 hours from there.  

Is there an option to pause my journal journey once I get started? 
Nope, the emails will keep on rolling.  This is intentional to encourage you to make a commitment and then keep the momentum going!

Can I skip days along the way? 
If that's what works for you, you absolutely can!  You'll receive a message every day whether you journal or not.  If you intentionally or accidentally skip a day here or there, I recommend you move on to the next day without trying to catch up on what you missed.  While the messages and prompts build on each other, each one can also stand alone if needed.  Continuing on in your journey will help you have a sense of forward movement and prevent you from getting bogged down in the feeling you're falling behind.   It could be helpful to star or note the days you miss, that way you can easily find them and come back to them once your 30 days are complete.
